How often do you release kits?

New kits are released monthly and go out to subscribers. A limited number are released in our store. You can follow us on social media @BroccoliBoxes or join our email list to be among the first to hear about are new releases.

What are the benefits of a kit subscription?

Benefits include:

A guarantee your famly will receive one of the new monthly kits or monthly minis, since we only create a limited number of each theme.

What age are they for?

Broccoli Boxes are designed for children 3-8 year olds. However, you know your child best. All kits have small parts and are not designed for children under 3 and are still exploring with their mouths. Children should be supervised at all times.

I ordered a kit, when will it ship?

Individual kits are generally ready to ship within 3-4 business day, there may be a slight delay during the holidays.
Individual kits that are personalized will usually ship within 5-7 business days.
Subscriptions are shipped around the 28th of every month IF ordered by the 15th. If a subsction is ordered after the 15th of the month, it will ship around the 28th of the following month. For example, if an order is placed on July 14th, the first box will ship on July 28th. However, if an order is placed on July 17th the first box will not ship until August 28th. If you'd like a box sooner than that, you can always choose your favorite from the shop and get the shipped to you right away.

What are the ingredients in the Sensory Dough?

Flour

Storing your Sensory Dough in an airtight container should help the dough last 3+ months. Playing with your dough often can help the dough last much longer.

Where did the name Broccoli Boxes come from?

When we began tossing the idea around to go into business, I knew this would be something, my 3 year old would be “helping” with. One afternoon on the deck, while playing in a sensory box, I asked him what he thought we should call our business. His answer, “Broccoli”. Not quite what I was hoping for, but he continued to insist. Every time I asked over the next few days he’d tell me that he’d already told me, “Broccoli”... Seeing I wasn’t going to get what I thought I wanted from him, I asked my husband at dinner one night. His response: “I thought you’d already decided Broccoli Boxes”. After several more days of brainstorming, I kept coming back to it. I liked it. Finally, my sister gave me the courage to go for it. Thus, Broccoli Boxes: Sensory kits for kids was born.

What's in the box?

Each box comes with the book that inspired that month's box. The boxes will also have a base sensory material (sensory dough, beans, corn, rice, sensory foam beads, kinetic sand, etc) and a variety of small items related to the theme to incorporate into a child's sensory play. Finally, each box will include an educational parent guide with ideas for ways to play with your child as well as suggestions to help lead their play, if necessary.

An additional sibling kit can be purchased. The sibling kit includes an additional of each of the singular items in the kit. You can also choose to have your box personalized, which means an item in the box will be laser engraved with your child's name on it. Just select that option and then leave a comment at checkout with your child's name. If you order the sibling kit and the personalization leave a comment at checkout with your children's names and we'll engrave both.

How do we use the box?

There are So.Many.Options. There is no "wrong" way to play. You could choose to begin with only the base sensory material. Then, after a few days add a few of the other items, and then a few more later. Allowing for the box to remain "new" for a longer period of time and slowly integrating the materials, and to avoid overload. Of course, you may also add it all at once and follow your child's lead on how they wish to play. You may choose to read the story first with your child and then introduce the box. You can also refer to the brochure with each box for additional ways to guide your child in their play. The possibilities are nearly endless.

What size are the boxes?

For our kits we use 2 box styles.

One box has dividers and is used for all of our sensory dough kits which measures 13.25x8.25x3.25 inches.
The 2nd box we use is open and meant for children to play right in the box. It measures 14.5x10.5x2.75 inches.

Our minis measure approximately 8.5x5.5x2.5 inches.
